Reinstalling Vista Business Upgrade
The only painful thing I do when installing XP is with the swap file. After the initial install is complete, I turn off VM, reboot and degrag the C: drive. Sometimes Drive Image won't work on a Dell. Sometimes Ghost also won't work on some newer Dells. Possibly because of how they partition their drives.

02-14-08 MS updates, IE won't get homepage
Won't hurt. The ideal thing would be to simply do a fresh install of Vista from the XP desktop but I can understand that you might not want to do that. It is the resolution for that issue. Use it and you will not have to use the escape key or special boot managers or anything else other than the traditional

Task Manager doesn't provide a method of dumping the process list. Asking the user to manually type out the list probable won't go too far. ;-) Process Explorer does provide that capability, dumping the list to a text file, but we would have to ask them to download it, first. At least there is no install routine

sorry Lee, but even firefox won't delete the localstore.rdf file. And as I've said previously, to do what firefox can do with private data, you can install multizilla: http://multizilla.mozdev.org/ But Grant, what does localstore.rdf have to do with any of this? Lee.

I have a valid copy of XP, however that is failing to install (I have left a query on the XP newsgroup relating to that.) Kickstart install - I'm completely lost!
I had mounted it safely, I thought, on the IDE controller thinking an install would choose the SATA master. Not so. Let me say, charitably, the contents of the 80G HD are no longer with me. (80/76 vs 320--Get it?) Instead it contains only W2K. I probably won't miss the data too much, since over the years I've moved

Dual boot - remove one OS.
He sure did, and I surely will try it! Another thing you might try is drag the harddrive out that box and use another box to install to that harddrive and then stick the drive back into the original box and see what happens. My fear of doing it that way is that I won't get the proper net drivers installed.

TeXLive install problem
I can't import to WM because WM does not recognize the installation of Outlook 2007 (although WLM does). WM gives a MAPI not installed error. Sure it takes extra time, but its worth it to know there is nothing "residual" from a previous install. I won't get to this until Tuesday though, as I have some time off.
